Top servants acknowledged

THREE decades in one job shows loyalty.

Shane Francis has been recognised for 34 years of service at Naracoorte Lucindale Council.

He was one of 35 people to be acknowledged for outstanding loyalty and work ethic last December.

Shane started work for the council on October 10, 1978.

Originally from Melbourne, he travelled the State as a jockey before moving to Adelaide.

He didn’t enjoy life in the city - “too much hustle and bustle” - and moved to Naracoorte where he continued to ride.

Shane also looked for part time work because “there wasn’t that many race meetings around...you had to have a second job”.

He was a plumber for 12 months and worked for the National Parks and Wildlife Service briefly before applying to the council.
