Another boost for CT scan

16 Feb, 2012 10:21 AM
THE quest for funding a CT scan machine for Naracoorte has reached nearly $400,000 thanks to local club support.

Kingston Lucindale Hockey Club has pledged $1000 and Naracoorte Senior Citizens Club has donated $500.

Seniors president Denise Neeson said the CT scan would benefit everyone in the area and the club was happy to donate to such a good cause.

“We think that it’s very important and it’s needed by all,” she said.

The hockey club vice-president Jason Clothier said the club pledged the money after hearing about situations where people had to travel considerable distances to use a CT scan.

“Being able to have a CAT scan machine close will benefit the whole area,” he said.

Naracoorte Rotary Club’s advocate for the CT scan project David Attwood said: “The response to Rotary’s letter to the people and clubs in the district has been truly overwhelming.

“Every contribution brings us a step closer to making the dream a definite reality.

“We encourage every club and organisation to build on the momentum we have achieved, no matter how large or small the donation.”

Mr Attwood said a business plan would be finalised this year and would be made available to the public.

“It is my undertaking to have a draft plan ready before the end of March.”
