VISITORS can now find Naracoorte Swimming Lake more easily.
Naracoorte Lucindale Council has paid $2266 for two new signs on the corner of Stewart Tce and Park Tce; and MacDonnell and Moore streets.
The idea originated three years ago from the chairman of the former Naracoorte Tidy Towns Committee, Gwladys McTernan.
She felt, and the council agreed, that while the lake was a very popular destination, it wasn’t being promoted as well as it could be in the town.
The committee organised a successful competition to capture the beauty and appeal of the lake in a photograph.
Nigel Nisbett was able to capture the “uniqueness” in his photo and won $200 from Naracoorte Lucindale Business and Tourism Association and a camera from Naracoorte One Hour Photos.
Cr Craig McGuire said the competition received a good response with some quality photographs submitted.
“We wanted to capture the originality of the lake, having a sandy beach and we wanted to draw attention to people driving past that we have this wonderful asset,” he said.
“It’s something unique for Naracoorte that people didn’t realise was there.”
