WEST started with the ball against Rams in division one Lower SE hockey on the weekend.
There was water covering the field with plenty of puddles making it hard to push the ball forward without it stopping or getting stuck in the slush.
It got to a point where the water on the field was making it hard to hit the ball at all.
There was a lot of back and forth ball play by both teams.
Rams defence line did a great job to keep the ball out of the goals. West scored the first goal of the game which then usually fires Rams up and makes them angry.
This then makes them play to their full potential and that they did in the second half.
Their first goal consisted of Derek James trapping and pushing the ball in to the circle which was crowded by players, the ball was then lost and Tyler Whitehead got control and put the ball into the goals.
That was just the beginning, after this tricky goal more goals were scored.
A short corner goal by Rams: the ball started off as being hit in to the circle by Lachie Busiko and was passed to Derek who stopped the ball was then passed to Tyler then passed to Gavin who scored the goal.
Next goal was by Kenny Jardine, a deflection inside the circle that went into the corner of the goals.
The game ended really well with Rams coming out on top, beating West 3-1
A big change - Derek James did not get carded off, I repeat he did not get carded!
Tigers defeated Naracoorte Rams 8-0 in Lower SE hockey on the weekend.
The game started and finished at a fast and furious pace.
The Rams goalie Cody Greenwood was rolled at least three times in the first 20 minutes.
Most of the play was down the middle and needed to use the wings. Tigers did many hard hits through the Rams' wall.
All goal attempts by Rams were unsuccessful, but they didn't stop trying. Bryce did a memorable stop on the wing.
The Rams were just outclassed on the day by a better team.
Best: Dylan Patterson, Thomas Waugh, Richie Kirkland.
