THE Melbourne Cup is coming to Naracoorte for the first time next month.
The prestigious cup will be in town on October 8 as part of the 2013 Emirates Melbourne Cup Tour.
The cup will be at four locations - from 9.30am-11am at Longridge Aged Care for morning tea, then at the library at 11.30am-12.30pm.
This is open to the public and is aimed at kids, with plenty of giveaways to get the little ones excited.
The town hall is the next stop from 2.30-3.30pm, with the new movie projector and screen showing footage of Melbourne Cup races on a loop.
Red Cross baby Digby Wight will also be there, with a function planned for Melbourne Cup day as part of his fundraising efforts.
At night will be the special "Dine at the Caves with the Cup" event, featuring 2001 Melbourne Cup winning trainer Sheila Laxon. The $50 ticket includes entry, nibbles, a two course meal and a complimentary glass of wine plus an optional cave tour.
The Royal Flying Doctor Service will be holding a raffle at the dinner.
Beer, wine, tea and coffee are available.
Tickets are limited and available from the Naracoorte Lucindale Council chambers.
