IT'S now only six months to go until Naracoorte hosts the 2014 Masters Games, and support is starting to gain momentum.
Games committee members have been busy getting sponsorship together and they are pleased with their efforts so far.
Erika Vickery and Sue Waite have been focussed on contacting businesses in recent weeks looking to get more on board.
"We've been really grateful for the commitment businesses have made," Mrs Vickery told the Herald.
"We are getting some good support...which is good because indirectly everyone in the town benefits (from hosting the games)."
Those who have not been able to commit funds have offered in-kind help of products for raffles and other purposes.
Sponsorship money is required for expenses such as medals, tops, bags for athletes and registration books.
Naracoorte Lucindale Council has committed $50,000, which goes towards employing the games coordinator Jan Bittner and some other expenses.
Registrations open on December 1 for the games, with the committee setting their sights on 1000 competitors for the 2014 event.
The program has also been released, with competitions running in 21 sports over four days.
There will be an official opening on April 4 and a closing on the afternoon of April 7.
In a change this year there will not be an overall social event during the games - instead each sport will have the opportunity to host their own social gatherings.
Mrs Vickery said the upcoming games were a great opportunity for the individual sports running their sporting events, and they would be better for Naracoorte's last experience of hosting the games in 2011.
"Those who were part of it before now know what to expect," she said.
