AFTER coming off a huge win last week for the Rangers senior baseball team, things didn't quite start as well in the second game.
A few minor fielding errors and a couple of good hits saw Millicent get off to an early lead on the Rangers' home field.
Naracoorte only managed a couple of hits but got no runs home.
A pitcher change, bringing in the rocket armed Jake (the beard) Rich, slowed down the runs from Millicent and lifted the team morale.
Leah Pimlott played her first game for the club behind the plate catching well and getting a couple of good hits. The game was at standstill for a couple of innings with neither team scoring.
Rangers then went in to bat against a different Millicent pitcher, being down by six runs.
With some better batting Rangers had loaded bases and were looking dangerous.
Ben Keeping was up and was determined to get a big hit, it soon came with a massive hit straight over left field and over the fence for a homerun.
He had done the ultimate in baseball, and hit the grand slam bringing everyone home to score four runs.
Some more good batting from Jake and Brody Harper got them on base.
Ben Nikkerud followed up with a nice hit to right field which got another two runs in to level the scores going into the last dig. Great pitching from Rich kept Millicent from scoring any runs, with the Rangers coming in to bat with level scores.
Naracoorte continued to bat well bringing in three more runs to win 9-6 after a brilliant comeback. Rangers will play their first game in Mount Gambier for the season hoping to continue with the great start to the season this Saturday on diamond one at 3pm.
