SE inspired novel a real 'catch'

ADELAIDE author and one-time local Carla Caruso was inspired by the SE when she wrote her new book "Catch of the Day".

Set in Kingston, it features Lucindale in a scene when the heroine Winnie Cherry goes to the SE Field Days.

Ms Caruso has used a bit of creative licence to modify the event slightly to include a cake bake-off and a beauty pageant, which ends in disaster.

Winnie's friend also whips out some Lanolips lip gloss which originates from the town.

The story is a romantic comedy and touches on the local fishing industry, while featuring big attractions such as the Big Lobster and Cape Jaffa Lighthouse.

It follows the life of an up-and-coming fashion editor who, after a regrettable incident at an office party, is banished to coastal SA to set up a beach lifestyle magazine.

Ms Caruso started her career in journalism as a cadet reporter at the Coastal Leader.

She will be at the Kingston Visitor Information Outlet from 11am-1pm on January 11, 2014, to chat to locals and sign books.

Everyone is invited to come along.
