THE dedicated team of volunteers who help keep the Naracoorte Regional Art Gallery running were thanked last Thursday with an afternoon tea at the gallery.
Volunteers help at the gallery in a variety of ways, including sitting on the front desk during the week so the gallery can stay open and helping out with minor maintenance jobs.
There are about 15 regular sitters who man the gallery during the week, with board members (who are also volunteers) picking up the slack on weekends.
Gallery board member Kaye Beauchamp said any help was greatly appreciated.
"We are very much in need of new sitters," she said.
Sitter shifts are organised into mornings and afternoons and allow the gallery to remain open so the community can come in and appreciate the community-owned works on display.
Currently on display is a selection of the gallery's own material which will run until January 23.
A school workshop is being held on January 23, perfect to get the kids involved in the arts.
A variety of other workshops are held at the gallery.
On the opening night of the Taste the Limestone Coast Festival, February 7, the gallery will launch its "Taste of Local Art" exhibition - showcasing the best of the region - starting at 6pm.
