AFTER a hot week the weather really turned it on for the Naracoorte Polocrosse Club's first tournament at Hynam on the weekend.
After a dust storm on Friday night when you couldn't see the fields, Saturday's play started at 7.30am in fantastic conditions.
Almost 30 teams came from far and wide to compete and they all put on a fine display for the crowd.
Naracoorte had teams in all divisions, and most of those teams made it too the semi finals.
Unfortunatly all were meet by some serious competition and didn't get through to the final.
With umpires being on notice play was very fast and occasionally furious, with some rough play resulting in penalties payed against the perpertrators. The Sunday finals were of a high standard and very exciting to watch.
The crowd was treated too some wonderful polocrosse, with many of the people playing being of a national standard.
Naracoorte's very own Phil Clark, Andrew Cameron and Bec Burns were recognised at the Sunday presentations with Bec being awarded best junior in division two, Phil's horse Rizzo winning best horse in division one and Andrew winning best number two in division one.
It was great to see so many new juniors playing, with kids as young as 10 giving the more mature players something to think about!
The club always welcome new members and if anyone would just like to come along for a look, check out the grounds and see what polocrosse is all about they would love to see you.
The next tournament at Hynam is not until late Febuary, but teams will be travelling to Portland and Adelaide in the next few weeks and the club wishes wish them well.
