THE Padthaway community celebrated Australia Day with a breakfast at Apex Park.
Over 50 adults and children attended from 8.30am to enjoy a free barbecue provided by Padthaway Uniting Church and sing some well-known Australian songs.
The guest speaker was agronomist Raymond Christinat who lives in Keith.
He spoke humorously and challengingly on his move from Switzerland to Australia over 40 years ago, and how he now holds dual citizenship.
Mr Christinat briefly shared some of his life experiences and spoke of how he regards himself as an "ambassador for Christ".
He said that he first felt like he was a "real" Aussie when he was at a tense a business meeting in Western Australia.
Someone made the comment "you Aussies from the East..." and that was a hallelujah moment for him.
Local Beth Ortlepp led some Australian songs and prayed for the "Great Southland" of Australia and its diverse peoples, especially those undergoing hardships.
Guests generously supported BLAZEAID with donations of over $470 which will help those who have been affected by the recent fires in SA.
