Lake ready for country music marathon

IT'S on again. The lake is full and the stage is almost set for the 23rd annual Lake Charlegrark Country Music Marathon on February 14-16.

Headlined by Adam Brand, one of Australia's most successful recording artists, the marathon usually attracts a big crowd and committee president John Naylor is expecting another good turnout this year.

"Adam Brand should be a big drawcard," he said. "The lake is full so bring your fishing rod...it'll be lovely."

Other artists include: Jayne Denham, Amber Joy Poulton, Wildcard, Graeme Hugo, Laura Downing, Peter Coad and The Coad Sisters, Gavin Chandler, Blackhill Ramblers Dance Band and Fine Form, with the weekend emceed by Discover Down Under's Tim Smith and Paula Gardner from the comedy company.

Festivities kick off on the evening of February 14 with the usual fish and chip and bush poetry night at the camp kitchen with renowned artists Colin Driscoll and Neil McArthur providing the entertainment.

Then from noon on the 15th the music starts and continues right through to 1am on February 16, kicking off again at 10am until 5pm.

Bar facilities are available with a continuous barbecue on Saturday and Sunday.

Tickets for the marathon are $50 with proceeds going to the Edenhope and District Memorial Hospital and other charities.

There are strictly no pets, glass or BYO in the entertainment area.

There is camping space available at the lake and also accommodation in surrounding towns.

No skiing will be permitted on the lake until after 5pm on Sunday.
