Extreme heat advice for country residents
As SA continues to swelter, country residents can again find a cool place to stay at their local hospital.
Country Health SA chief operating officer Helen Chambers said Naracoorte Health Service would be just one of many opening its doors for people wanting to escape the heat.
“We know that this continued extreme hot weather can be difficult for some of our more isolated residents who don’t have large shopping centres or other community facilities to stay cool in," she said.
“With temperatures soaring above 40 degrees yesterday and today, country hospitals will again be open to any community members seeking respite from the heat.
“Anyone finding it hard to cope at home should visit their local hospital and report toreception where a staff member will direct you to a cool place to stay during the day.
“However, if you are feeling unwell from the heat you should continue to present to your GP or hospital in the normal manner.”
