NARKINDIE Park could have a new owner in the near future, with the former housing estate placed under contract.
Naracoorte First National is the agent in charge of selling the former housing estate on behalf of the State Government, and confirmed it was under contract but would not disclose anything further.
Narkindie Park was built by the SA Housing Trust but has been disused since tenants were moved out from 2010.
For years there had been debate in the community about what to do with the site, as it was fenced off and created an eyesore in the southern part of town.
Last year a decision was made to clear the site amid concerns about vandalism and potential asbestos contamination - especially with Longridge Aged Care and Naracoorte South Primary School close nearby.
Final demolition and rehabilitation of the site was finished in September last year and the 3.331ha park was put on the market.
