Twilight hockey a hit

FEBRUARY 6 was the third round of Twilight hockey at the Naracoorte and district hockey fields.

This event is being hosted by the Redlegs Hockey Club, which divided the front field into thirds for the modified games, playing 20 minute halves.

The teams that played were Murrays (Green) v Patyah (White) and as the White team had a full house they shared some of their players with the Green team and Edwards (Black) v Ghezzi (Pink); followed by Jones (Blue) v Bunniks (Light Blue) and Gales (Yellow) v Tatiara (Orange).

All teams played with great spirit, involving the younger ones and also passing the ball off to the more mature ones.

It was great to see the thrill of those getting goals and or blocking them. The Pink team has gone to a lot of effort to design their own shirts - well done.

Some of the teams are family-orientated or made up with friends. Goalies aren't required for twilight hockey, but it was lovely to see four-year-old Madrick Brennan in his OBO goalie gear which he then allowed his older brother Buzz to wear in the second half. Great to see some new faces having a go and also the umpires who are either experienced or learning on the field too.

If you too would like to have a go at hockey you are most welcome to turn up on a Thursday evening from 6.30pm onwards.

Also if you have a child who would like to have a go and they want to only play with little ones, that can also be arranged - contact Kelly Gale on 0430 158 077 or Kathryn Montgomery on 0408 899 583 or put a message on the Naracoorte and District Hockey Association Facebook page.

If the weather is too hot, games may be cancelled.

Hockey is a fantastic family game.
