CFS thanked on Red Balloon Day

LONGRIDGE Aged Care and its residents dug deep last Friday to recognise the dedicated work of the Country Fire Service.

They held a barbecue under their new pergola and invited members of the local CFS brigade and headquarters - filling it to capacity.

Many of the residents had in days gone by been a part of the service, or helped with private units.

"In those days if you lived in the country you were a member of the CFS," region five commander John Probert said.

As a result of their fundraising Longridge handed over $303.10 to the Red Balloon Day cause, which then gets sent back to the local area.

Naracoorte CFS brigade captain Shane Smith thanked the residents for their generosity and resident Lavington Fisher responded, commending the firefighters for their work in protecting the community.
