NARACOORTE Art Gallery is preparing for a new exhibition and it needs the help of businesses in the local community.
"Show off your Business" is an initiative for people to raise their own company profile as well as promote all that the gallery has to offer.
Board member Robyn Schinckel said she, and other members, would be approaching businesses over the next couple of weeks to get them involved in the fun project.
"It is not a competition and there will be no judging," she told the Herald.
"By buying a canvas you can show off what your business does and in return you get to support the gallery - which is owned by you, the community.
"We hope to get maybe 60 or 70 canvases."
The canvases can be decorated as simply or as intricately as businesses would like but will need to be finished by May 30.
Mrs Schinckel shared some ideas to get people started.
"Pubs and cafes could somehow incorporate their menus, hairdressers could use hair dye, coffee shops could make a mosaic using coffee beans, a motor company could use grease or perhaps old car badges," she said.
"We want to get the farmers involved too - they could use seeds - even people with home businesses could do one.
Anyone can get involved.
"Anyone can get involved.
"It's not about making a Van Gogh masterpiece, it's just a bit of fun and bit of cross-promotion for them and the gallery.
"People will have support from board members - some of whom are great artists in their own right - if they would like it."
The canvas size is 40cm by 40cm and costs $15 for the first one, and $10 for each one thereafter if budding artists would like to create a series.
They can be decorated with any medium - for example paint, photographs, tree branches, coffee beans, mosaic tiles - and will then be auctioned off at the exhibition opening.
This will be at 6pm on June 6 with all proceeds going to the Naracoorte Art Gallery. The pieces will then remain on display until the end of the month, June 28.
