High speed, high fines

A MOTORCYCLIST on his L-plates made a very costly mistake at Naracoorte on Saturday.

Naracoorte Police reported the 27-year-old Naracoorte man for speeding on Riddoch Hwy at more than 150km/h.

Just before 2.30pm, police on mobile radar duties detected a Honda motorcycle travelling at 163km/h in a 110km/h zone.

The rider was stopped and issued with an on the spot fine of $1374 for exceeding the speed limit and also breaching his learner's conditions.

Then a short time later, a 24-year-old Munno Para man was detected driving south on the Riddoch Hwy at 158km/h. The man was stopped and also issued a fine for $1300.

Both men had their driver's licence disqualified for six months.
