A REGIONAL group under the Livestock SA banner has been formed after a meeting in Penola last week.
Shepherd's Hill farmer Jack England will chair the SE group.
Livestock SA president Richard Halliday, who was chairing the meeting, welcomed the changes.
"As Livestock SA wants to be the peak organisation representing beef cattle, sheep and goat producers in this State, given the importance of livestock in the SE it is essential that producers from this part of the State were included," he said.
"I am pleased that Jack has taken on the role of establishing this regional group.
"As a young farmer he brings both energy and a fresh approach."
Mr England said he was looking forward to helping his industry get back some advantage.
"l am keen to get livestock industries back on the front foot (and) gain competitive edges," he said.
"And educate those government bureaucrats that write restrictive legislation that impinge on our rural way of life."
A range of livestock and regional issues were also discussed during the meeting, attended by the new Minister for Agriculture, Food and Fisheries Leon Bignell.
