A STRONG crowd of almost 250 people gathered at the Lucindale war memorial for the 7am Anzac Day service.

Organisers said it was one of the largest gatherings they had seen in a while.

After the commemorative ceremony most people hung around for morning tea in the RSL hall and breakfast at the Lucindale Hotel.
