The Adelaide Football Club chose Clare Oval as the location for the first SANFL Showdown as a tribute to the Redden family, whose six-year-old son Max died in a playground accident in October last year. Dad Tom is the dealer principal of Clare Valley Toyota and has strong ties to the Adelaide Football Club. Playing Adelaide’s only SANFL home match in Clare was a way the Adelaide Football Club could show respect and support to the family and also help the Redden family thank the Mid North community for their amazing support.

Subject to AFL and SANFL selection players such as Taylor Walker, Lewis Johnston Jason Porplyzia, Shaun McKernan, Sam Shaw, Luke Thompson and local lad Riley Knight could be in the tri-colours for the Crows.
