SA grain season looking good

THE 2014-15 grain season is now underway across SA, with ideal conditions in most parts of the State making for an excellent start, according to PIRSA's latest Crop and Pasture Report.

Agriculture, Food and Fisheries Minister Leon Bignell said the opening rains of April had generally resulted in adequate to excellent sub-soil moisture throughout SA's agricultural regions.

"This is particularly the case in the northern half of the cereal zone, which also benefited from late summer rains," he said.

"The typically early northern agricultural areas and the Murray Mallee districts began seeding in early to mid-April, with a number of growers more than 50 per cent completed by the end of the month." For this and other reports visit the PIRSA website.
