Watch out for scammers

POLICE are reminding the community to be wary of cold callers claiming to be from their bank and seeking personal details such as account numbers.

Recent reports suggest scammers are active again in SA, making calls in which they claim to be providing a service from a bank in order to help the recipient gain a refund for bank charges.

The caller asks for personal details in order to complete the refund forms.

Police said this is a scam and remind people to never give personal details or bank information over the phone or via email. If you try to contact your bank to confirm what you are being told, police recommend using a different phone.
