Girls to get UGLY for the Leukaemia Foundation

THEY'VE got big shoes to fill, but Nicola Bartosek and Olivia Dowling are ready.

The two Kincraig Hotel barmaids are entering in this year's U.G.L.Y Bartender Of The Year, raising money for the Leukaemia Foundation.

In a tough act to follow, the Kincraig's Kendy Tuohy and Ashlyn Parker won the competition last year when they raised $13,500.

This year the local pair hope to raise even more.

"Ash said we should go for $15,000," Olivia said. "We're pretty confident we can do it."

The competition runs until November 17 with the girls already planning a variety of fundraising events, and more are in the works.

At the pub at the moment there is a "Guess the marshmallows" competition and the usual Friday night wheel.

The girls will be down the street on September 13 and October 11 raising awareness, holding a bake sale and facepainting, and there will be a goods and services auction on October 25.

Plans have been made for a carwash through the Kincraig bottle-o, a sporting event, a barbecue and a wine lucky dip, also at the bottle-o.

Other ideas are ladies day at the Melbourne Cup carnival, AFL Grand Final and Father's Day.

A raffle will also be held with the girls asking for donated items to go towards that.

The girls are asking anyone wanting to help out to phone the Kincraig on 8762 2200 or Olivia on 0448 774 876.
