Frances Folk Gathering pushed back a week

THE event that puts Frances on the map each year has been rescheduled to a new date for 2015.

The Frances Folk Gathering has been pushed back a week to February 27, 28 and March 1.

That will ensure it avoids a clash with another popular border districts region event - the Lake Charlegrark Country Music Marathon.

Organising committee chairman Michael McGregor said: "Lake Charlegrark, just across the border in Victoria, runs a very successful and popular country music festival on the third weekend of February and every so often, such as this year, there is a clash with Frances because until now we have run on the last full weekend in February," he said.

"Which this year is the third weekend."

Frances Folk Gathering organising committee chairman Michael McGregor (right, with special guest Keith Potger of "The Seekers" at the 2014 gathering) said the 2015 event had been rescheduled to fit in with a busy time in the district.

In the future the gathering will be run on the fourth weekend of February.

Fundraising has already started for the 2015 event, with a concert planned for September 13 at Immanuel College in Adelaide - doors open at 7pm.

Tickets are only $25 a head and the concert features the "incomparable" Eric Bogle, a Scottish-born folk singer-songwriter.

There will also be up and coming act Serendipity and the "extraordinary harmonies and instrumental work" of Andy and Mara.
