A HEALTHY field of 56 men converged on the Naracoorte Golf Club to enjoy the winter sunshine and a chance to compete for the April Monthly Medal, with
the day sponsored by Munro and Grigg Auto Repairs on Saturday.
The A grade winner was Anthony “Grub” Short, with a net 72, closely followed by Richard Male with a net 73.
The club president, Mick Schinckel, gave the B grade
a shake with a handy net 70, however was pipped at the post by Heath Paech with a slightly more handy net 69.
Troy Bates, with a net 70 easily captured C grade, with his nearest rival being M. McLay, a visitor from Avoca Golf Club, with a net 76.
In the sometimes blustery conditions, hitting greens was at a premium, with B and C graders not troubling the scorers in the nearest the pin competition.
Clay Southern took out the A grade nearest the pin, with a solid tee shot in the conditions.
Hitting greens was the least of some people’s problems however, with Ian Cox claiming the coveted Kevin Na Award for his memorable nine over par 14 on
the eighth.
Other notables on the day were Peter Starnes amd Aaron Osman with 73, Scott Male, Terry Paech and Darren Turner with 74.
Chris “Snowy” Boston on 75 and Trevor Smith, Sam Jude and Peter Brown on 76, all collecting a ball.
A big thank you to our sponsor for all the prizes supplied on the day.
Saturday sees the first round of the MH Monfries trophy, sponsored by Morambro Creek Wines.
We look forward to seeing another big field turn up to
compete for prizes on offer and to progress to the next round.
