Economy boost

RECENT visitors to Naracoorte have certainly left their mark financially on not just the town's businesses, but also its charities.

Naracoorte's Royal Flying Doctor Service branch has received a much appreciated boost from the Victorian members of the Recreational Vehicle Fellowship of Rotarians.

The visitors joined Naracoorte's Rotary Club for dinner at Naracoorte Hotel Motel.

While at the dinner, Rotarian David Attwood regaled the crowd with tales of his coming to Australia as a "10 pound Pom".

While Mr Attwood captured the crowd, he called for donations from the Victorian fellows, who reached into their pockets for a combined $337 which Rotary then passed on to the RFDS.

Naracoorte RFDS branch member David Hannaford said the organisation was thankful for the donation.

"We'd like to thank Rotary very much for this donation," he said.

The donation brings awareness to how important the RFDS is to Naracoorte and surrounds, with on average three flights a week being conducted by the service.

Mr Hannaford said the donation would add to a substantial sum from the community so far in 2012.
