PENOLA footballer and former league medallist Luke Duncan has been suspended for three matches for his part in an incident which caused a game between Penola and Kingston to be abandoned on June 2.
After a league investigation, Duncan - Penola's captain this season - was banned for three matches under section 19-2.2.gii: intentionally, recklessly or negligently striking another person.
He was charged with striking Kingston opponent David Werner early in the third quarter at Kingston's Gall Park. Werner was knocked out, and a delay in treating the injured player because of fears of neck and/or spinal injury resulted in the match being abandoned.
Penola was awarded the points by virtue of its 48-point lead at the time.
Duncan was to captain the Murray/SE zone team in this weekend's State country championships.
