KATE Barnes has always relished a challenge, but never more than at the moment.
The former campus manager of Naracoorte's Independent Learning Centre headed to Darwin in June to take on a six-month contract with the Department of Children and Families to further her career as a social worker.
"For me, it's just been amazing," she told the Herald by phone while on a training course in Alice Springs.
"You just don't know what you're going to walk into every day. Honestly, it's unbelievable."
