THE rain held off for most of the day and good hockey was played all round by teams at Furner on the weekend.
Kingston/Lucindale's men secured a finals berth with a hard-fought 3-2 win in the men's game over Brolgas.
U13
Dartmoor drew with Redlegs 1-1.
Redlegs dominated the play in the first half, but weren't able to score.
Dartmoor's defence held strong, but midway through the second half Reds scored their goal with good passing and team play.
Dartmoor kept pressuring the Reds defence until they evened the score from a short corner with only minutes to play.
Reds looked dangerous up forward, but weren't able to get another goal.

West Wimmera Brolgas def Kingston/Lucindale 4-0.
The Brolgas were able to pass the ball to set up play quickly which resulted in an early goal.
They continued to play a good team game by passing the ball wide to involve all players.
WWB went in at half time 3-0.
Kingston/Lucindale fought back which restricted the Brolgas' play-on game.
Brody Kirkland played a very attacking game in goals for Kingston/Lucindale, stopping many attempts on goal.
Kingston/Lucindale's younger team demonstrated a huge improvement to finish the season off.

Redlegs were severely undermanned with only 10 players, but didn't let that stop them from trying hard.
Dartmoor got away to an early start with their goals putting Redlegs defence under a lot of pressure early.
Redlegs didn't give up and kept pressuring the Dartmoor defence and managed to score three goals.

West Wimmera seemed unsteady in the first half.
K/L took advantage of this but luckily the Brolgas goalie was quick on his feet and held off many shots.
In the second half WWB picked up the pace and their team passing improved.
Their efforts were rewarded with a great team goal.
K/L had a couple of close shots on goal.
WWB were quick on the ball and added another goal to the score.
Credit to both teams for their drive and determination.

Redlegs 3 def Dartmoor 1.
Both teams played well, with lots of passing and passages of play that didn't result in any goals.
Reds managed to break through the Dartmoor defence on two occasions in the first half.
The second half was a very even contest with Reds scoring again midway through the half.
Dartmoor kept pressuring the Reds defence, until Anna Thomson broke a 10-year drought, scoring a goal for Dartmoor.
The remainder of the game saw both teams attempting to get through the defence, but to no avail.

Dartmoor came out hard and scored an early goal, putting Redlegs under pressure right from the start. Redlegs kept pushing forward but only managed to break through Dartmoor's defence and score two goals as Darts scored another four goals.

A great team game played in good spirits. Always a pleasure to watch these two teams come together with plenty of on-field antics.
