PENOLA High School students were given a taste of what's needed to be a masterchef last week when reigning Masterchef Allstars champion Callum Hann visited the school.
While at the school on August 28, Callum addressed the whole school at a school assembly, speaking about his ambitions of being a mechanical engineer which took a back seat in preference to his passion for cooking.
Callum's advice to students was to find what you are passionate about, look, listen, learn and work hard to achieve your goals.
A group of Year 9 and 10 students then completed a two hour hands-on workshop.
During the workshop the students produced a deconstructed cheesecake from his recipe book.
The students were elated to have the opportunity to be mentored by Callum.
Home economics teacher Dee Hutchesson said the high school was delighted to have such a high-profile visitor come and share his knowledge.
"The students and staff were thrilled to have Callum visit the school - it's not every day that someone of Callum's calibre is available to present to small country schools and for some students this may be a once in a lifetime experience."
