A FIRE last week just outside Frances has prompted warnings for the upcoming fire season.
Frances CFS captain John Naylor said people needed to be careful when burning material, especially with the upcoming fire season.
The fire last Tuesday started when rubbish was being burned on a private property just south of Frances.
"It's a bit of a warning that if you have a fire, make sure the area around it is clear," Mr Naylor said.
A passer-by reported the fire and the CFS responded, with the wind and the proximity of the fire to a house the issue.
"We were concerned about the 100km/h winds and the house on the south side because of the embers, usually we'd just let it go because it was green."
Units from the Frances, Hynam and Kybybolite brigades attended as well as one private unit.
