Slingshot charges

POLICE have reported two people after investigating the reported use of slingshots at a Naracoorte business on September 10.

Naracoorte police attended business premises in Jones St as a result of reports of slingshots being used and projectiles being fired at stationary motor vehicles.

Police spoke with a number of people and seized slingshots and marbles and two days later reported an 18-year-old Naracoorte man for possession of a dangerous article. He will be summonsed to court.

On September 13, police reported a 16-year-old Naracoorte boy for possession of a dangerous article and for possession of equipment used to administer drugs. Further enquiries are continuing in relation to other people involved. No damage was caused.

On SEPTEMBER 11, police reported a 40-year-old Bordertown man for theft of fuel from a farming shed near Western Flat. The man allegedly stole a jerry can of fuel. The man will be summonsed to attend court.

About 10am on SEPTEMBER 13, police attended Naracoorte Golf Club to take a report of theft of fuel from a storage tank. Police are making further enquiries into this matter.

At 11.30pm SATURDAY, Naracoorte police issued a diversionary notice to a 19-year-old Naracoorte man for behaving in a disorderly manner in Ormerod St.

At 3.15am SUNDAY, Naracoorte police issued a diversionary notice to a 22-year-old Naracoorte man for urinating in public on Robertson St.

Police encourage people to remain vigilant in securing personal items in motor vehicles. Senior Sergeant Tom Carter said: "If you cannot lock your car then please either remove your belongings or place them out of sight." Leaving wallets, bags, mobile phones and GPS equipment in unlocked car attracts immediate unwanted attention."

It appears that fuel thefts are again being reported and this is no doubt due to the rise in fuel prices. "Please be aware that this is one area that thieves are likely to target."
