Former Prime Minister John Howard is in Adelaide ahead of a speech at the University of Adelaide tonight.
But while politicians - past and present - are usually renowned for lapping up time in the media spotlight, Mr Howard has declined all requests for interviews.
His speech titled, "The United States and China - is there really a choice?" will be staged at Bonython Hall in front of a capacity crowd of 900.
The free event is the first in a series of public lectures to honour Sir John Downer, the grandfather of former foreign minister Alexander Downer who is a visiting professor at the uni.
Sir John Downer was SA premier on two occasions.
The 40-minute lecture will start at 6.20pm and is booked out.
