BUSH bashing and more than a little bit of mud made for a great day at Frances Primary School's annual four-wheel-drive day fundraiser on September 24.
The event, which is in its third year, took advantage of the wide variety of scrub around the Frances area.
This year 54 cars took part in the rally - carrying around 150 people.
The high participation pleased organising committee member Shantell Naylor.
"It was brilliant," she said. "It seems to get bigger and better every year."
The organising committee - Mrs Naylor, her husband Tim and Donna and Kev Ashton - had been organising the day since the start of the year.
The original four wheel drive day was the brainchild of Mrs Naylor, who was on the primary school's governing council, as an affordable family day.
Every car in the rally got a prize and there were 80 prizes and vouchers up for auction once it was completed.
The auction was held at the Border Districts football clubrooms at Frances, and was conducted by Josh Manser, who Mrs Naylor said did a great job.
About $7600 was raised from the day - with $500 to go to the Naracoorte CT Scan project.
Frances Primary School principal Adrian Maywald said the day was great, with the highlight for him being the amount of different vehicles set up.
On behalf of the school he thanked the organising committee for their work in putting the day together.
"Thanks to the committee for putting together such a big event."
He thanked all who supported the day - in supply prizes, facilities, food, drink and more.
"Those who don't have time donated money and those who don't have money donated time," he said.
