Two young ladies – a rhino and a zebra – have made their debut at the Monarto Zoo.
The zebra filly was born on October 1 and a female Southern White Rhinoceros calf, the first female to be born at the zoo in its history, joined the family on October 2.
Southern White Rhinoceros parents, Uhura and Satara, have bred successfully before, producing two male calves, Watoto, in 2005 and, Jubari, in 2007.
The new Zebra filly is the third youngster for Mum, Kenya, and Dad, Zambezi.
"Both babies were born on exhibit which meant lucky visitors and zoo keepers got to see the new additions enjoying their first few hours of life," said Ungulate zoo keeper, James Morrison.
