Update: Police pursuit vehicle found

UPDATE: Police have recovered a Mitsubishi 4WD that was wanted in connection with a pursuit at Mount Gambier where a police officer was injured.

Just before midnight on Tuesday, police stopped a black Mitsubishi 4WD on Tumut Drive, Mount Gambier. As the police officer opened the car door and attempted to detain the driver, he reversed the car, knocking the officer over and dragging them along the ground for a short distance.

The car then hit a tree, damaging the rear of the vehicle before speeding away. The car was pursued by police for a brief time before it was terminated for safety reasons.

Thankfully, the police officer received only minor injuries.

The black 1998 Mitsubishi Challenger 4WD with SA registration WIM112 was located in the pines of Nangwarry about 3.30pm Wednesday following a call from a member of the public.

Police are still seeking assistance from the public to help identify the driver.

Anyone with information on the identity of the driver or saw the vehicle in the Nangwarry area yesterday is urged to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or Mount Gambier Police Station on 87351020.
