A small field of just 22 men and two ladies played in the August Monthly Medal at Naracoorte last weekend.
The weather forecast for the day was horrific and no doubt deterred many regular players.
It turns out the weather forecasters were correct with 22.2mm of rain falling during the day however most of that was after the conclusion of play.
The daily sponsor was Carolyn’s Cottages and two players will be disappointed to not receive a generous prize from our long term sponsors.
The best score of the day was recorded by Scott Lawrie in A Grade. Lawrie was the only male to return a score better than his handicap having a net 69 to win his grade by an incredible seven shots from Gavin Davis with a net 76.
In B Grade, Ronnie Dix found a return to form with a nett 73 to win from Troy Bates with net 75.
The scores in C Grade showed just how difficult the course was playing with Terry Paech winning the grade with a score of net 76.
Trevor Pridham was runner up with a net 79. It was hard to recall a higher score claiming the runner up prize in any Grade.
Balls were awarded to Trevor Smith (77), Sam McLeod (77) and Chris Burford (79). The ladies competition was won by Jill Steen with a very good round of 37 points.
The nearest to pins were won by Andrew Sincock in A Grade and Bill Moorehouse in B Grade.
The sponsors nearest to the pins were won by Scott Lawrie (Naracoorte Print) and Loren Bald (Zobel).
A reminder that this weekend is the Naracoorte Cup and Winter Tournament which starts this Friday..
The Winter Tournament is a major event on our golfing calendar.
Friday is Ladies Day, Saturday is a Four Ball Aggregate Stableford for men and ladies and Sunday is the Men’s 27 Hole Stroke Championship.
