The Bureau of Meteorology has issued a Severe Weather Warning for damaging winds in the Upper South East and other parts of the state.
The warning applies to Adelaide Metropolitan, Mount Lofty Ranges, Lower Eyre Peninsula, Eastern Eyre Peninsula, Yorke Peninsula, Flinders, Mid North, Kangaroo Island, Riverland, Murraylands, Upper South East, Lower South East and parts of West Coast, North West Pastoral and North East Pastoral districts.
A rain band with embedded thunderstorms will move quickly eastwards across the State during Wednesday, with an associated cold front.
North to northwesterly winds are forecast to increase ahead of the cold front early Wednesday morning. Damaging wind gusts of 90 to 120 km/h are possible in the west of the area early Wednesday morning then extending eastern parts later in the morning.
Locations which may be affected include Adelaide, Port Lincoln, Port Pirie, Clare, Maitland and Jamestown.
A severe thunderstorm warning has also been issued for parts of the North West Pastoral district.
The State Emergency Service advises that people should:
- Move vehicles under cover or away from trees;
- Secure or put away loose items around your property.
- Stay indoors, away from windows, while conditions are severe.
