NARACOORTE'S main street was buzzing last Thursday evening as 100 shoppers got their retail fix.
Organised by the Frances Playcentre fundraising committee, the shopping night was praised as a success by both the shoppers and stores involved.
The event encouraged members of the wider community to shop locally - taking advantage of Naracoorte's Thursday late night shopping promotion - and enticed people out from a number of outlying towns including Edenhope, Apsley, Minimay and Frances.
Nine shops opened their doors for the eight groups of shoppers who spent 20 minutes in each before moving on to the next one.
Each of the businesses had exclusive specials and some even offered a glass of wine on arrival which added to the fun "girls night out" atmosphere.
After everyone had shopped until they dropped they made their way to Sweet Espresso for a complimentary drink and nibbles.
A raffle was drawn with prizes donated by the stores involved, who were approached after sponsoring or supporting the Playcentre or Frances Primary School in some way.
The money raised from ticket sales and store donations will go towards buying books for the Frances Primary School Library as part of the preschool home library borrowing program.
A new section in the library will be beneficial for the preschool aged children as well as the Frances community.
