The Naracoorte Herald is an independent, family owned newspaper covering Naracoorte Lucindale and the surrounding districts of the Upper and Mid South East and Victorian border.

Major towns in the circulation area are Naracoorte, Lucindale, Frances, Padthaway, Coonawarra and Penola.

Other communities are Kybybolite, Hynam, Lochaber, Keppoch, Wrattonbully, Comaum and Koppamurra as well as the rural areas between Naracoorte and Victoria’s Apsley and Edenhope.

The Herald is the "first choice" local media for news, information and advertising for this rich, historic and diverse area.

Naracoorte is famous for the World Heritage listed Naracoorte Caves National Park – the only World Heritage site in South Australia. The Caves are only one of many tourist attractions.

The Naracoorte Lucindale district is renowned for producing top quality wool, prime lambs, stud sheep, beef and stud cattle, pasture seeds, premium wine and, more recently, bluegums for wood chipping.

Naracoorte is in the centre of three world-famous wine regions – Coonawarra, 10-20 minutes’ drive south; Padthaway, 15-30 minutes north; and Wrattonbully, 10 minutes east. All produce premium red and white wines, particularly Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz, Chardonnay, Riesling and Sauvignon Blanc.

The town of Naracoorte is a sub-regional shopping hub with seven-days-a-week supermarket shopping and many excellent shops and services.

Popular annual events in the Herald circulation area are the Coonawarra Cup races at Penola (January) Taste the Limestone Coast Festival and Naracoorte Cup racing carnival (February), Frances Folk Festival (February), Swap Meet (May), South East Field Days at Lucindale (March), Lucindale Campdraft (Easter), Coonawarra After Dark (end of vintage, usually April), Young Riders Three Day Event (May), Penola Coonawarra Arts Festival (May), Limestone Coast Children’s Expo (October), Coonawarra Cabernet Celebrations (October) and Christmas street parade (December) and exhibitions in the Naracoorte Art Gallery.
