Rural lifestyle photographer Alice Mabin released her latest book The Driver: Australia and New Zealand on the Back of a Truck on July 12. The large-scale book unveils 228 pages of 770 photographs showcasing the daily grind of 110 different trucking companies across every state and territory in Australia and New Zealand.
AJ & KD Neagle Transport and Gericke Bulk Handling were among 11 SA trucking companies to be featured. Ms Mabin immersed herself in the lifestyle of the drivers to thoroughly research the topic.
“It was important to me that the stalwart cooperation of the truckies, their families, and the trucking companies were respected and represented fully,” she said.
“I absorbed so much on this journey; I learned how to drive a road train, change tyres, fix fuel leaks and to tie down freight – it’s the most accurate account of real-life trucking.”
