Naracoorte Netball Association looking to grow

The Naracoorte Netball Association has started preparations for the 2017 season which may see a weekday competition included.

Following a quite successful season last year, the town netball committee are looking to grow the competition for the upcoming season.

Despite losing some players to league competitions, committee president Kristy Jones still believes the association can continue to grow.

“We are hoping to build our numbers back,” Ms Jones said. “We want to let people know we’re still here and we welcome new players.”

The committee is aiming to register at least eight teams for Saturday fixtures and may add a new midweek morning league for those who have weekend commitments.

Ms Jones said the committee would try and branch out to reach as many players as possible.

“We are looking at getting the more younger girls to get involved so hopefully we can sort something out there,” she said.

Having been heavily involved in organising and planning the town netball seasons, Ms Jones feels this mode of competition has a more social vibe and is more convenient to players due to the minimal travel.

The Naracoorte Netball Association will hold its annual meeting at the clubrooms on February 26 at 11am.

The 2017 season is scheduled to start in early May.
