Naracoorte Little Athletics athletes receive awards

Naracoorte and Districts Little Athletics Club held their presentation day and annual meeting on April 7.

The athletes all enjoyed some fun activities while the committee and parents attended the annual meeting.

President Tony Bedworth read his report and reflected on a successful 2016/17 season and thanked the committee and all those that had volunteered during the season.

The club welcomed some new committee members and thanked some departing long term members.

Executive positions on the committee were filled quickly, with Tony once again taking up the president’s position.

The club would like to thank Hansen Print for their continued sponsorship and also to Murray Nankivell for their financial contribution towards the club’s newly purchased line marker.

On completion of the annual meeting, the athletes were presented with their personal best certificates and the trophy winners were announced.

The most improved trophy is awarded to the athlete that has accrued the most points in each age group.

Points are earned by the athlete for attendance, participating in every event, equalling personal best and bettering personal best.

Congratulations to the following most improved trophy winners:

  • Tiny Tots boys – Caleb Marron and Angus Norcock
  • U6 girls – Chelsea Rosmann
  • U6 boys – Hudson Ross

We also had athletes compete at many outside events, including the Country Games in Millicent, SA State Classic, Multi Event Championships, State Challenge and State Individual Championships, which were all held in Adelaide.

The regular season may be over but the fun continues with some cross country events on April 30 and May 7 at the Naracoorte Nature Park.

The events will be excellent practice for those students that intend on competing in the primary schools’ SE Cross Country competition in May.
