Padthaway Grape Growers dinner | PHOTOS

More than 60 members attended the Padthaway Grape Growers Association annual dinner on June 23.

It was great to be back at the Limestone Coast Wine cellar door with the fires roaring and local Padthaway wine pouring!

Members enjoyed a three course menu catered for by Kirby Shearing from Soul Projects including canapes, and enjoyed the local Padthaway wines.

Padthaway wines were provided by Farmer’s Leap, Morambro Creek, Henry’s Drive, Browns of Padthaway, Giggling Goose, Oparina, Landaire, Limestone Coast Wines and Treasury Wine Estates.

It was great to taste some new and upcoming varieties.

Association president Andrew Bryson spoke about the Padthaway region, recent vintage and the future for viticulture to cap off another successful annual function.

Many stories were told for the annual “Wood Duck award”, which left guest judges Scott and Rachel Messenger pondering a difficult decision.

The award was given to another well-known Padthaway identity, whose name will be withheld. This Padthaway identity is well-known for his IT knowledge, however, when it comes to out back travel, his knowledge is somewhat lacking!

It is great to still see the next generation receiving the wood duck award!

Padthaway will be hosting the Limestone Coast Wine Show on October 26, and plans are well on the way to ensure this event is successful.

A Padthaway wine tasting event was held at the National Wine Centre in Adelaide on June 16. It was great to see so many from Adelaide turn up for the event, and the association hopes this can be continued on an annual basis.
