Two out of the three games were very close in round 1 of Naracoorte cricket on Saturday.
The closest game involved the new side Wortley Warriors, who took on Padthaway.
Warriors batted first and made a very competitive 8/172, with Paul Schroder making 29 at the top and the tail wagging through Nigel Walker 38, Jacob Edwards 21 and Trent Waters 31no. Lachie Crisp took 3/12 and Andrew Stevens 2/17.
In reply, Padthaway had some nervous moments losing eight wickets in the run chase, but made the runs, finishing at 8/174 from 33 overs, with Dillon Ingenito top scoring with 41 runs.
At Lucindale, the home side restricted Kybybolite to 9/150 from its 40 overs before replying with 5/154 for a solid win.
Daniel Pedler top scored for Kyby with a half century, while slow bowler Stu Hinze took 5/20 and Daniel McCarthy 2/22.
In Lucindale’s innings, Brad Maloney made a match-winning 59 not out and Sam Graetz hit 41, while Jack Curnow took 2/29.
At IB Edwards Oval, reigning premiers Townies batted first and racked up an impressive 7/265 against Devils, with Brad Redding smashing the season’s first century with a big-hitting 120, while Anthony Munro made 64.
In reply, the Devils scored 76, with four Townies bowlers claiming two wickets each.
Borders/Apsley had the bye in round 1.
