Penola has just announced the replacement for premiership coach and goalkicker Adam “Hoggett” Merrett.
The Eagles will be led by Matt Tilby, who last held an official role with the Eagles in 2016 when he was non-playing coach of the Penola reserves side which won a thrilling grand final over Bordertown.
Tilby is a former Penola and Nangwarry player. Merrett’s playing intentions for next season have not been made clear.
Kaniva/Leeor United had already announced the reappointment of Nick Murphy as A grade coach, but the Cougars have also now announced the re-signing of several key travelling recruits.
Former AFL player Cam Hitchcock, key utility Cam DeVisser and ruckman Nathan Bowles have all recommitted for next year after arriving in 2017. Former SANFL player Toby Stribling has also signed up again, and the club is reportedly in talks with a number of other potential recruits.
