Organisers have made the tough decision not to reschedule the Naracoorte Christmas pageant in 2017.
The pageant was supposed to be held last Friday, December 1, but was cancelled for safety reasons because of a dire weather forecast.
Naracoorte Lucindale Business and Tourism Association, which coordinates the pageant, had hoped to reschedule the event but this has proved impossible.
President Sandy Talbot said there were too many elements to reorganise in such a short space of time, including council road closures, vehicle bookings and many other logistical issues.
He said it was a shame that a lot of hard work by people such as Katie Brodie had gone to waste, but there was no other option. He said the pageant would back, bigger and better next year.
Locals can still get their Christmas fix at the carols in the square event on Sunday, December 17.
