Some local ladies have decided to band together and open a special pop up shop in Naracoorte for Mother’s Day.
Pam Knight, Heidi Yelland, Sara Morrison, Liz Ballinger and Mandy and Brooke Stone have all decided to set up their stalls in 31 Ormerod Street today until 5pm, and tomorrow from 9am to 5pm.
On Saturday, Kristen Watson will be at the pop up as well.
According to Pam, all it took was a phone call to Mandy Stone, a call out for other interested parties on Facebook, and then Tender Cuts generously let the ladies rent out the shop.
“I don’t like to see empty shops, and it’s nice to liven up Naracoorte,” Pam said.
The idea of pop up shops being open just for the holidays (Christmas, Easter, Father’s Day) is an idea that could be explored more in the future as well.
Naracoorte has a history of supporting stalls and markets, and Sara Morrison said that it was encouraging to see locals buying homemade and independent products.
“It’s good to draw people into the main street,” she said.
Social media played a large role in getting people into the store this morning, however there were also many people passing by that wanted to take a look.
An eyecatching display near the door and the store’s stylish open setting helped things.
Anybody who buys any goods from the pop up shop will also automatically go into the draw to win a hamper, which has goods donated from all the stalls in it.
