Woody weed weirds out walkers

Amateur botanists – can you help?

An eagle-eyed walker has noticed this unusually large weed growing alongside the Naracoorte creek walk in the duck pond/scout hall area, and is keen to find out if anyone knows what it might be.

The walker hasn’t seen the unique woody weed anywhere else along the creek walk.

If you have a theory – or a definite answer – on the identity of the plant, please contribute to the comments in our Facebook post here

In May, a local farmer came forward with a warning for locals to keep an eye out after noticing the lippia weed near the creek. Read that story here
